In a world where ballet dance is considered to be a female thing
these men have defied the norms and have danced passionately to their
heart’s desire. Tapping their dedication with pose and grace these four
ballerinos have owned the stage whenever they have set their feet on
it. As they say, “Real men don’t lift weights, they lift women”, so get
ready to let your spirits be inspired by the life of these four
danseurs.

Yes, yes I know what you are thinking, “Whoa, that’s Aleksandr
Petrovsky from Sex and the city”. This heart-throb who played the role
of Carrie’s beau in SATC in real life is one of the greatest
ballet dancers in history. His Russian accent has flattered many hearts
but his dance has won over a thousand souls.
Here is one of his quotes handpicked just for you dance fanatics – “When a body moves; it’s the most revealing thing. Dance for me a minute and I’ll tell you who you are.”
2. Carlos Acosta

Highly acclaimed as the “greatest male dancer of his generation”,
Carlos Acosta rose from an impoverished background to achieve the
unthinkable. The man whom once life rendered shoe-less has today left
his footprints in the sands of time wearing his ballet shoes.
Here is one of Acosta’s inspiring quote from his book Pig’s foot, “A
friend of mine says that what’s important is not work, but what you
become through work, because at the end of the day all men die, but
their work lives on in spite of the suffering and the sacrifice.”
3. Benjamin Millepied

Benjamin from Bordeaux, France, Oh! Yes, the city which produces some
of the most amazing wine in the world. No wonder his dance is as
intoxicating as the red wine of Bordeaux. This ballerino is best known
for his ballet choreography in the Oscar nominated movie, ‘Black Swan’.
P.S – For all those who don’t already know this danseur is the better half of the amazing Natalie Portman.
P.S – For all those who don’t already know this danseur is the better half of the amazing Natalie Portman.
Here is one of his quotes, which we are sure will open the eyes of many aspiring dancers; “Most dancers have no awareness of how they look; half of them think they’re fat. There is anorexia in the ballet world; there are those things.”
4. PAUL TAYLOR

From starting by collecting a small group of dancers to produce his
own work to becoming the owner of ‘The Paul Taylor Dance Company’, this
ballerino came a long way through his dedication. Today he is amongst
the last living members of the third generation of America’s modern
dance artists.
One of the quotes from his autobiography ‘Private Domain’ which
reveals the true sense of devotion to the art of dancing goes as
follows, “Most dancers I know, especially the talented and
successful ones, seem to possess [my dog’s] knack for living moment to
moment. You see, their idea of time is related to those infinitely short
moments when they are onstage being their super selves.”
